Relieved…

That I’ve finally done my piano exam and managed to get a B+ somehow. I felt like I was going to get like a C+… When I’ve got the original copy of my exam remarks off my teacher, I’ll see whether the examiner thought I was good or not..

Ohk, so, I haven’t yet mentioned it on my blog. Ms Sweeny’s class debating team is as follows: Oliver, Ilona, Antony, Celia, and as back-up, Sid.

When she announced that, we weren’t surprised with Oliver and Ilona (“They are the obvious choices”) but ME?! Everyone else in the class was excellent, and I managed to be picked out of all of them? I was like one of two people in the class who didn’t put up their hand when Ms Sweeny asked who was interested in being on the team… oh well. I’ll just have to actually try now.

Wonder if it’s gonna rain tomorrow for the 3rd week in a row…

Oops

I capped my internet, just when I need to finish my science assignment… well, actually, I capped it on Friday afternoon I think… but I hadn’t noticed till yesterday (when I actually started to surf the web). Now the only websites that load quickly are the homepage for Google, and my blog (Google Gears is a wonderful tool!!).

Anyhows, finishing this science assignment is going to be slightly harder than I though. Namely the making it into a ‘lesson’ my group can easily do…

Getting ready to fail my piano exam on Tuesday. My mum, being the hard studying Uni student that she’s become again, doesn’t want to have to go to school half-way through the day and have to write a note for me, so, I won’t be going to school on Tuesday. You might say that’s good, but for me, it means I’m concentrating on how terrible I might do in my exam all day…. without the distractions of school life… I think I’ll also do some extra study that day. My brother has his clarinet exam on Saturday. He seems to be fine. Why am I so nervous? probably because I’m so lacking in GK and aural skills.

Time is running out

For all us people who have exams looming ahead of them. Next week the yr 7s and 8s have their yearlies, and the week after, us yr 9s will be sitting them as well…             I’M NOT READY FOR THEM!!!

Anyhows, I reckon I’m gonna do terribly for my piano exam on Tuesday. There is no chance I’m gonna get an A.. or a B+… unless I’m really lucky, and get amazingly better with my GK and aural… I could probably fluke aural though…

I should probably start doing proper work on that science assignment due next week, and not just reading through pages on the internet vaguely related to it (how does a quasar relate to a satellite?)

Tuning?

We had our piano tuned on Wednesday. It definately sounds better now, and also now the dampening pedal doesn’t squeak all the time. And now the top end register doesn’t sound so soft… I wonder what was wrong with it…

Band this morning was ok. I finally got to see the new song people have been talking about. I once again realise how bad my scales are on the flute… anywhos, it was otherwise good.

Futsal comp back on today. Everyone on our team (except Anthony) forgot their shoes, so we had to play barefoot (some of us played with our socks on). I’m a terrible goalie, just so you know, but we still managed to win with the help of Piranavan. Yay!! Or at least, I think we won…

Anyways, Good Luck to Yr 12s again!! Good luck to Yr 10 next week with their SC. Good luck to Accel Yr 9s!! Good luck to people doing music exams!!

Hols day 3

survived 3 days, eh. Hmm… i need to learn to check the info I need for an assignment before I start writing. I just wasted 2 1/2 days of work for commerce because I didn’t check to see if the company was actually publicly listed on the stock exchange…. stupid me… Read more »

Yay!

Concert Band Came first in State Band Comp on Sunday. We got 222 out of 250. I wonder what our comments were.

Band Tour – Day 4

Date: Friday 29th August, 2008
Aww, the last day. It had been such a great band tour so far, so sad that it had to end. So we had breakfast at an easy 8, and then packed up and loaded the bus. Soon we were off to our last performance on tour.

We arrived outside Laurieton Public School (which we stopped infront of on day 2) and proceded to setup. Besides a small debate between Tim (Graham) and Mark (Barnsley) over where the band should set up, the setting up was relatively uneventful. Two students from the school joined us (they both played clarinet) to play along with us. Druing the performance, spider pig once again made his appearance, this time the kids were really eager to get to him. When Tim (Kerr) came up to talk about his trombone, he and Mark did a little duet. At some point in some holidays, Tim had injured his arm, and so he had to devise a new of practicing his trombone: using his foot!. So both he and Mark got down on the ground and played a small duet together. Another point was when we played ‘The Stripper’ and spider pig got thrown around a bit. Near the end, it got passed to Sam, who later threw it into Jess’s tuba (bell). I really wish I could’ve seen that. Also, spot the Asian came up with 1 kid.

After that wonderful performance (they didn’t cheer as loud as Wirreanda Public School), we packed up and began our journey home. Tim and Anieta presented Mrs Matthews, Dr Croyle, Mark Barnsley and Cambell (the bus driver) with our gifts of appreatiation. They all got chocolate, Mark also got a DVD of ‘Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope’ (as he’s never seen Star Wars *gasp*, and so he joins the list of those very unforunate people), and Cambell also got a sign saying ‘World’s Best Driver’. How nice was that?

On the way home, we watched a few movies, like ‘Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure’ and ‘History of the World: Part 1′. Classics….

Lunch was back at Heatherbrae, and some of us went shopping for food again. At the shopping centre we spotted another Asian! After that we continued our way back home. After dropping off Mr Barnsley at his stop, we eventually got back to school. We unpacked the tour bus, and slowly made our way off to where we would go. And that was the end of Band Tour 2008.

Band Tour – Day 3

Date: Thursday 28th August, 2008
Waking up later today at around 7 am, to get ready for breakfast at 8. Today we were going to play to the old folk at nursing homes. First stop: Port Macquarie Gardens Nursing Home.

We arrived around 9:30 after our great breakfast. Originally the plan was for the Stage Band to play for the old folk, and then the Flute ensemble and Clarinet ensemble would play as well, while the others mingle and/or talk with the people. Read more »

Band Tour – Day 2

Date: Wednesday 27th August, 2008.
Waking up early for breakfast (at 6:30 am), we had a choice of half a fried tomato, bacon strips, scrambled (powdered) egg, cereals and toast. A great choice of food…. (The tomatoes and eggs were terrible!!). By 8:30 we had left Motto Farm Motel and were once again in the coach on the road, heading towards Port Macquarie. The day’s first performance was at Johns River Community Hall. Johns River Public was the school that watched us this time. We were expecting another school to come as well, but they ended up not coming. So we had 21 or so kids sitting down on the floor in front of us, staring at us, as we played our show (albeit a slightly shorter one this time). Mark got them up dancing in one of the pieces, it was fun to watch. Read more »

Band Tour – Day 1

Hello all. Back from a wonderful band tour. I’ll just talk a bit about it, shall I?

Date: Tuesday 26th August, 2008.
As people slowly turn up at school, we milled about waiting for the tour band roll call which happened at 8:30 am. After Dr Cryole marked us all off, we moved all our gear down to the bus bay where we waited for our coach to turn up. 8:55 am, we start loading the coach with our bags and instruments/gear. By 9:30 am, we’re off on the 2008 Band Tour to the Mid-North Coast. Read more »
