Week’s just about over

So this week is just about over, my brother is failing at playing Mario Kart DS, I’ve got an assignment for IST to do where we have to make a family tree of some sort using a database, and I’ve finished my NAPLAM tests. This week we also got back some of our results for various exams: Geo half-yearly, just about everyone did badly, and I got 33/50; Science, eye test (test on things about the eye) I got 29/32, half-yearly, I got 44/49; Maths, I did terribly this time, I didn’t revise enough, I got 45/59. We are yet to find out our marks for our English essays, and are yet to do our History essay. Read more »

Brief Overview

Hey guys! Just decided to do a quick run through how my life has been going (generally) so far. Start off: School. Its been good to me so far, not yet overkill on the assignments like some other people, just still enough to ware me down a tad bit. I’ve still got two assignments due this week, so I’m going to try and squeeze it in with my mum’s schedule.
Soul Purpose. Yeah, if I hadn’t mentioned earlier somewhere, I’m a leader in JSP (Junior Soul Purpose). This term (and probably year) Soul Purpose split to try and cater for a wider range of people. Junior for a bit more fun and games, and Senior for a more Bible study type group. Mrs Corfield asked a few of us yr 9s to be leaders, and I decided I’d join. Now, Tammy, Gabi, Dietrich, Tim, Jeffery and I are leaders in JSP. We haven’t done too much yet, just help out with activities, put on a play, try to lead in group discussions, and have a rather odd session about ‘Our Family In God’ yesterday. Read more »

Return

This post marks a few things for me. Today, my grandparents (my mother’s side) will be returning from their annual 3 month holiday to China and Hong Kong. It’ll be great to see them agian.  Another thing it reminds me about is the haircut I got yesterday. After having longer hair for a while, the cut feel short, but truth be told, it’s not as short as my last cut (and for that I’m greatful).

Also, I return to thinking about how soon I’ll have to go back to school. Thinking about school gives me mixed feelings… this year I’ll be making more friends (hopefully) as a mingle with other people from other classes with the electives. Not that I should have anything to worry about,… but….
I don’t know… maybe I’m just worrying too much. But this year we’ll be doing electives, FINALLY! YAY! I wonder how this is going to go. We’ve been told they can be really fun, but if you pick one that doesn’t suit you/you don’t like.. it might not be as enjoyable. I remember last year how everyone was frantic to see what classes they were in. Which reminds me of how my mum is getting me to work harder this year. No slacking off like last year. I mean, school isn’t even starting for 3 weeks or so, and already I’m behind on some work that I was set…

Anyways, someday soon, I’ll be changing things on the site. My current homepage will be changing to one I’ve based on a few sites off the net that I liked. Also, I’ll be getting a new domain name… I’m not sure of what to call it, but one I like at the moment is Pressing-On.net. I don’t know when I’ll buy the new domain name, but I’ll probably will have bought it by the end of Term 1. I’ve still got a bit of work to do to add stuff to the site template/theme though, so it mightn’t look the best for a while.

Thinking of school reminds me yet again of my friends who I (saddly) haven’t talked to much over the hols. That’s one of the few things I really miss about school. The fun you have with your friends everyday. And how games feel so much more relieving druing the school term than in the hols! Also, Soul Purpose will be interesting this year, as the Yr 12s are no longer there, and the new Yr 12s are going to be a bit busy half the time. And apparently this year the new leaders are going to be taken fromYr 9. As there are only, what, 12 or so of us that go regularly, there isn’t much of a problem of choice, not that we don’t like a bigger leadership team… Despite all my aprehensions about the classes next year, I bet the year 2008 will be the best year of my life yet.

Note-to-self: Actually make a New Year’s Resolution or two.

The Prayer

A minister passing through his church in the middle of the day,

Decided to pause by the altar and see who had come to pray.

Just then the back door opened, a man came down the aisle,

Then minister frowned as he saw the man he hadn’t shaved in a while.

His shirt was kinda shabby and his coat was worn and frayed.

The man knelt just for a moment, a lunch pail in his lap.

Well, the minister’s suspicion grew, with robbery a main fear

He decided to stop the man and ask him, “What are you doing here?”

The old man said, he worked down the road. Lunch was half an hour.

Lunchtime was his prayer time, for finding strength and power.

“I stay only moments, see, because the factory is so far away;

As I kneel here talking to the Lord, this is kinda what I say:

I just came again to tell you, Lord, how happy I’ve been,

Since we found each other’s friendship and you took away my sin.

Don’t know much of how to pray, but I think about you every day.

So, Jesus, this is Jim checking in.’”

The minister felling foolish, told Jim, that was fine.

He told the man he was welcome to come and pray just anytime.

Time to go, Jim smiled, said “Thanks.” He hurried to the door

The minister knelt at the altar, he’d never done it before.

His cold heart melted, warmed with love, and met with Jesus there.

As the tears flowed, in his heart, he repeated old Jim’s prayer:

“I just came again to tell you, Lord, how happy I’ve been,

Since we found each other’s friendship and you took away my sin.

I don’t know much of how to pray, but I think about you everyday.

So, Jesus, this is me checking in.”

Past noon one day, the minister noticed that old Jim hadn’t come.

As more days passed without Jim, he began to worry some.

At the factory, he asked about him, learning he was ill.

The hospital staff was worried, but he’d given them a thrill.

The week that Jim was with them, brought changes in the ward.

His smiles, a joy contagious. Changed people, were his reward.

The head nurse couldn’t understand why Jim was so glad,

When no flowers, calls or cards came, not a visitor he had.

The minister stayed by his bed, he voiced the nurse’s concern:

No friends came to show they cared. He had nowhere to turn.

Looking surprised, old Jim spoke up and with a winsome smile;

“The nurse is wrong, she couldn’t know that in here all the while

Everyday at noon, He’s here, a dear friend of mine, you see,

He sits right down, takes my hand, leans over and says to me:

‘I just came again to tell you, Jim, how happy I have been,

Since we found this friendship, and I took away your sin.

Always love to hear you pray, I think about you each day,

And so Jim, this is Jesus checking in.’”

Soul Purpose and Life

Well, today during lunch at school, I attended the school’s Christian group’s (Soul Purpose) weekly get-together. Today’s was very unusuall because not only was it the year 12′s last one (for those of them that came) but the Year 7s were at a life saving course, the Year 9s never seem to turn up, nor the Year 10s, although alot of them were at the Year 7′s course as insturctors (it was for thier Physical And Sport Science (PASS) assement) and the Year 11s were doing something else, so I was only us Year 8s.

Anyways, today we did the first bible study from the new book the year 12s got the group. It was kinda interesting, as there were only 15 of us, when normally there’d be like 50.

Also, later tonight, I’ll be going out with the youth group I attend to Koorong West Ride to purchase new stuff! Finaly, I’ll be getting a study bible. Or so I hope.

Aside from blogging, I also have made some attempts at website & WordPress Theme design (as seen by my blog!), so expect some weird things on this site sometimes
