Someone please explain to me why my blog is no longer blocked by the DET portal (at least for Seniors), while other’s blogs aren’t?? I mean, just last year, it was classified as “personal/blogs”…
Anyways, I’m gonna get back to doing my software stuff =]

Wow, I’m enjoying it so far. Definitely looks good guys!! All I’m gonna say about my life at the moment is that it’s going to the cold end of the year, but worry not people. I’ve already had my flu jabs and gone through a cold. So I shall not get sick on you anytime soon. Maybe next year =P
Oh, and the assignments are annoying me a lot. How have the older students put up with this?!

They’re like emails, except they’re books!! Anyways, doing some digging around on the internet, I managed to find myself two good ebooks, for learning C#!!! One was a compilation of some online lessons from Programmer’s Heaven. Pretty good, it’s teaching me all the basics I need to know so far, and showing me just how similar PHP is to C++ (then again, thinking on it, I don’t really know that much PHP XD no, really, I don’t know that much PHP). Soon I’ll move onto the slightly harder aspects. Thankfully the language hasn’t changed much since .Net 1.1 was released, so the tutorial is still good; all Microsoft have really done (or so it seems) is just add new features to the language as the .Net library grows in functionality.
But in case I do need to learn something more up to date, I managed to dig up an ebook copy of another good book, Essential C# 4.0, which was officially published the day Microsoft officially released .Net 4.0 and C#4.0 (funny how C# updates at the same time, and to the same number as the .Net framework does… would have nothing to do with C# being the native .Net language now, would it? =P ), and contains up-to-date practises for C#, and which I can use to cross reference the other book I have (in case they changed any syntax or something, like what happened with one tutorial I tried a while back. It was written for C#2 or earlier, and when I tried it in C#4, it didn’t work!!)
But another book I found was a book about AJAX. Haven’t had a look at it yet, but maybe it’ll be helpful for future web development, and help me understand the technique better. Either way, I look forward to being able to read it soon, and put it to at least minor use on my blog! Talking about my blog, I must remind myself to recheck what IntraIP have when to offer when March comes around.

Well, it’s only term 2, yet the English department are already treating us like its the HSC. Several exams are coming up, and writing practise essays (let alone real essays) hurts my head. You see, this is part of the reason I don’t like the subject English. That and the fact that I still don’t see any use for it in high school.
Anyways, I haven’t blogged in a while, have I?? I really should get back in the habit of doing so, just so this site is useful. And maybe I should continue my learning of C#? What I find the most annoying is that all the tutorials on the internet seem to be for C#1.0, C#1.1, or C#2.0. None of the really seem to hit on C#3.0 or C#3.5, let alone C#4.0 (although, I shouldn’t be surprised by that last one, it only came out this April). So, I keep on feeling that there’s something that I’m missing, that is simple and should be taught near the beginning, for C#3.5, except, especially if I were to talk to people who do know about the language, I’m sure that missing out something now is perfectly fine. Because I can just learn it later!!! Of course, I’ve had this experience where a tutorial on MSDN was written for C#3.0 or C#3.5, and I was trying something out (very basic mind you!!) in C#4.0 on Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 (Beta), and it wouldn’t work!!!! Obviously since the last iteration, they’ve either changed the syntax for something, or just changed the function the tutorial was trying to get me to use… Read more »
