Winding Down
As we start to ease into the holidays, I take a quick look at my blog to see something I was expecting for two weeks now (You’re slow Kevin Zhu!). Kevin Zhu ‘spamming’ my website. In response, I have deleted his spam, and I will now check back every day to see what he’s come up with. He’s decided to cloak his IP address so that I can’t block him that way, so it’ll have to be the good old wait-till-you-get-spammed-then-clean-it-up method.
Thinking back to things that have been happening the last term, I remember a time in Geo when I got away with forgetting to write a speech for a presentation. Oh, that was so funny in retrospect!! We were presenting research on some geographical issues, and our groups were giving speeches accompanied with PowerPoint slide shows. Rebecca Wong happened to go before my group, and she had almost perfectly memorised her entire speech! This fully impressed Mrs Barkas, so the next lesson, when it was my group’s turn to go up, I felt stuffed. I had forgotten to prepare a proper speech, and all I had was the few meagre dot points I had put in the slide show, and stuff I had read up in the past, floating around in my mind somewhere.
Kevin Zhu, Christopher Ngyen and Jaydon Zhou spoke before me, and I knelt there in front of the laptop, worrying. Up I get, when it was my turn, and I bumble my way through, looking at the dot points for guidance, trying to remember things to say off the top of my head. Afterwards, I felt I had got a rather bad mark for a poor presentation. Later, Lawrence forgot to bring his speech for his presentation, and as such had to ‘wing’ it (I felt he did a better job than me…). Later, when Mrs Baraks gave us our marks, I was surprised with 9/10 for my speech!! As she was talking to the class, she congratulated Rebecca and I for memorising our speeches!!! I could barely contain the laughter and grin, along with Chris, Kevin, Jaydon and Vrushank (who knew I had just BSed my way through it). Now, before you smart people go harping on at me for not preparing a speech, I know I should’ve, but I just couldn’t find anything to say about the Interest groups and decision making processes involved in Air Quality control in Sydney (not for lack of trying to search it up on the internet. Although I did manage to quote some Act made by the Federal Government).
Looking back on the last two paragraphs back there, I’ve just realised I’m boasting… and I’m probably gonna boast more in the post, but, hey, it’s my blog after all. I can write just about anything I want. JUST about anything. I <3 Jaz =].
Another point to remember is after the Junior & Senior Band Camp (2009), when Senior Band came back with a new piece (Caribbean Hideaway), with which they had been practising a lot, or so they said. I was worried that it was gonna be difficult to sight-read, and later learn (and, in a way, I think it was), but Sandra and Dinusha commented to me that I was playing it pretty well, and they were hoping that they could come back from band camp and go “yeah, here’s one piece we’re heaps better than Antony at…”, or, at least, that’s what Dinusha said to me… BTW, thanks for the compliment!
Recently I’ve checked up on my few videos on YouTube, and found that one of them has had the audio disabled because of copyright issues. Oh well. I’ll just have to keep it as a personal video till I upload it to my own website. On that thought, I could use it as an example video to test out coding my own Flash Video web-player… Nah, might as well just rip a current one and rework the UI.
Now, to decide upon which subjects I would like to vest interest in studying next year… I was thinking of something like this:
- 3 units English
- 3 units Maths
- 2 units SDD
- 2 units Physics
- 2 units Eco
But, looking at my past performance in English (mid 70′s to mid 80′s?) and my half yearly (which was HORRIBLE!!! The only other time I’ve seen a mark like that was in Latin in Yr 8), I feel that I might not be up to the really hard work of English Advanced AND Extenstion 1 English… Taking into consideration the massive weighting English has on our ATAR, I’m not sure it will turn out well for me… Listening to what Mr Van Loon said about my English skills (Good on skills in Comprehension and Understanding, needs more work in Analysing and Essay Writing…), I feel, ohk ohk, I KNOW I have a lot of work ahead of me. Sigh…
Oh, and Aaron, I don’t only just post on someone’s brithday, as this post shall clearly indicate. =]
All sciences suck. Fact not opinion =<
Why not chemistry?
